British
gymnastics Olympic Performance Director Tim Jones was happy with the results.

Jones said, "This result is massive for us".

"We were very clear when we came to Tokyo that almost the sole goal was to support our men's and women's team to get the best results possible and to make the top eight.

"We didn't want to go through the second-chance saloon of having to qualify through the test event in January and so today was a job well done.

"We are clearly not at the very high level of the USA, Russia, China, Romania but we are making inroads and it's all credit to the girls that they came here and did the job, and we now look forward to London 2012."

London 2012 Olympic Games in bold double victory in next year's plan

British cycling star Bradley Wiggins, as "Actions" Mark Cavendish Road Racing World Championship victory by buoyed, tour de France and London 2012 Olympic Games in bold double victory in next year's plan.

Wiggins believes that the Tour de France and Olympic Collection "exciting", "crazy" and "challenging" but has fresh belief after winning the world time trial silver medal on the back of a three-week Vuelta a Espana tour and a broken collarbone earlier in the season.

The British rider, six Olympic medals already to his name after, clearly feels his achievements have yet to elevate him into the lofty echelons of cycling lore.

He said about the potentially unique double, "It is more achievable than ever. The challenge in doing that is the difference between being great and being mediocre.

"I’ve done the Olympics, this will be my fourth, I’ve been there and got the golds. They haven’t changed my life but winning the Tour would certainly change my life. Winning gold on the back of winning the Tour would certainly change my life and perhaps put me into a different bracket as an athlete. So as crazy as it sounds to everyone, I don’t see it as compromising one for the other. That’s what I want to do – it’s not a case of justifying why I’m doing it either. This is what I want to do."

But Wiggins said she still did not know what he will be riding event at the Olympics, although he expects team coach Shane Sutton to have already worked out the plan.

He said, "I expect a text any time telling me".

He anticipates that the program of Olympic track team are bound to follow (which would also allow him to do the individual time trial) because more than one gold medal for sure is the opportunity.

"I want to ride everything but I will ride the event where there is the most chance for gold and that will probably be the team pursuit... I have got to be able to do it at the end of the day, going for one gold medal and not compromise that by doing everything."
