London 2012 Organising Committee has revealed for blue hockey pitches

The London 2012 Organising Committee has revealed that the hockey pitches at the Olympics will be blue.

This
is the first Olympic or world event a different traditional green artificial turf will have to pay.

Color change for players to see has been developed to improve are officals, spectators and broadcasters alike.

GB international Alex Danson said: "It provides a strong contrast for players against a white ball and white lines."

Pitch came in pink, a striking difference in the game will provide.

Kelly Fairweather, chief executive of the International Hockey Federation stated: "The playing performance and quality of a pitch are our primary concern.

"In addition though, we're keen to innovate in the presentation of hockey to ensure, among other things, that spectators either in the stadium or on television get a good view of the exciting field action."

Hockey center by both a five and seven Paralympic soccer competition will be used to entertain.

Meanwhile, 27 former British Olympic athletes have been announced as Team GB 2012 Ambassador.

Team GB 2012 chef de mission Andy Hunt said: "The Ambassadors will play a vital role inspiring the athletes, coaches and their families."

Rowing legend Sir Steve Redgrave, who won five of the 27 gold medals picked up by the elite group of volunteers, added: "I can't think of any better way to support the team.

"I hope I can use my vast experience of competing in the Olympic environment to help prepare members of the team to deal with the pressure, the scrutiny, the highs and the lows."

Tickets On Sale For London Olympics 2012


The London 2012 Olympics tickets will be available for sale from upcoming Tuesday - but you've only got six weeks to get your hands on a ticket.

For London 2012 around 8.8 millions tickets will be available to purchase.Spectators will then have six weeks to decide which Olympic event they wish to attend.

'I think the Olympics is a great opportunity to inspire and encourage people to be involved in sport and physical activity,' World Champion gymnast Beth Tweddle tells Marie Claire.

'I was lucky enough to win my 2nd World Championships at the O2 in 2009 which is where the Olympic final will be in 2012. It was amazing to have the whole crowd on your side and the noise when I won was incredible. Normally at major events its just a handful of parents cheering you on so to have 12,000 people behind you will be incredible.'
