Britain to hold 'world-class' sporting event every 2 weeks until start of London 2012 Olympics

Britain plans to host a "world class" sporting event at least once every two weeks from now until the start of the London 2012 Olympics. UK Sport says that 20 towns will stage at least one of the events over the 1,000 days left before the opening ceremony. The $52.9 million program covers 30 Olympic and Paralympic sports.The first of the 64 events starts Friday with the UCI Track Cycling World Cup in Manchester.

2012 London Olympics art installation for Mittal donates

Lakshmi Mittal NRI steel tycoon has donated 15 million pounds towards creation of a landmark art installation in East End in honour of the 2012 Olympics.
Mittal decided to make the donation at the case of London Mayor Boris Johnson, 'Evening Standard', a tabloid has said.
The scale of the steel installation is colossal and is expected to be visible from up to 16 km away.
This year was Mittal named the eighth richest person in the world and one of the richest in UK, with a personal fortune of 12 billion pounds.
